Sarah J. Mueller
Sarah J. Mueller (b. 1993) is a visual artist and art educator based in Jersey City, NJ with a practice in painting and mixed media installation. Her current work focuses on connection, disconnection, and energy between strangers in transit and in shared spaces. Mueller works from memory, a process that relies heavily on her existing knowledge of figurative drawing and portraiture, to rebuild fleeting moments.
In addition to her artistic practice, Mueller cares deeply about visual arts education. After graduating with her BFA in Painting, Mueller led and designed visual art programs in schools, museums, youth detention centers and healthcare facilities in Michigan, New York, and New Jersey. She currently teaches and mentors high school students in their creative pursuits in Montclair, NJ and works out of her studio at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City.
